I don’t know why I can’t communicate
Every conversation feels like a debate
I frustrate, you berate. Remember when we were great?
Team players, a pair, now to be fair
Life has changed us, made us more aware
No such thing as black or white
But on the shades of grey, we must be right
Maybe we’re both scared of being wrong
Maybe we’ve been together so long
That maybe we’re both singing the same song
A discordant harmony, intellects matched
Lights our fire, our emotions attached
To our inane opinions about the world at large
And for a fleeting moment we’re in charge
Of our destinies because we now know the “truth”
The horrors of worldy impotency now soothed
After all, two heads are better than one
But with sadness, I’m often overcome
Whilst we get to test our presumptions
Spar and parry with ideas and assumptions
No solutions do we ever find
No actions to escape our bind
Just an agreement that the world isn’t alright
